There's so many styles and sub genres of music out there: Metal, Black Metal, Gore Grind, Grind Gore, and more. So What Style of Music Are You Destined To Play?  Did you know that researchers have concluded that one’s true musical preference is largely based on early exposure? That’s right!

As explained in Daniel J Levitin’s book This is Your Brain on Music, experiments by Alexandra Lamont at Keele University revealed that newborn children have a remarkable preference for the music they are exposed to by their parents while still in the womb.

Young children are then exposed to, and develop a liking for, the major melodies, simple structures, and catchy repeating lyrics of the traditional lullabies and holiday songs sung by their mothers, teachers, friends, and families.

And more significantly, as children mature into their teen years and early twenties, they have an inclination to adopt the listening preferences of the social groups they are part of as a form of social bonding.

Furthermore, after years of practicing a musical instrument, musicians typically lay the foundation for their true musical style. Pretty interesting stuff!
